While it is possible that we could shift towards relying entirely on renewable energy sources in the future, this transition will depend on overcoming significant challenges. Renewable energy technologies, such as solar and wind, have become more efficient and cost-effective, but their intermittency (depending on weather and time of day) poses challenges for consistent energy supply. Energy storage technologies, grid upgrades, and further innovation are needed to make renewables reliable on a large scale. Moreover, certain sectors like aviation and heavy industry are harder to decarbonize. While we may move closer to renewable energy dependence, a complete shift will take time and may not be entirely feasible in all areas.
