Ans: Pakistan’s Relations with Central Asian States:
A number of Muslim States got independence as a result of the
dismemberment of the world’s second most powerful Union, the USSR.
These liberated states included Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan,
Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan. All these states joined the OIC
between 1992-1996, of which Pakistan was already a member. Pakistan has
very close friendly relations with all these states. The Central Asian Muslim
States have enormous gas and oil resources, but most of them do not have
their own navigable sea ports, they need Pakistan or Iran ports for their
external trade. Pakistan is ready to help them in this respect. Gwadar
seaport, the motorway and the CPEC are significant steps in this direction.
Pakistan’s relations with these states are further enriched by the bilateral
visits of their heads of the state and government from time to time.
