Ans: Pak-Iran Relations:
(i) Pakistan shares a long border with Iran. We always have had strong
fraternal relations with Iran because our common ties rooting deep in history.
Pakistan and Iran have many things in common like religion and culture.
(ii) Iran was the first country to recognize Pakistan after its independence in
194 Pakistan and Iran, along with other countries, were partners in a
millary pact CENTO. Iran provided Pakistan full support during its wars
against India.
(iii) Pakistan, Iran and Turkey established the RCD for economic co-operation,
which was later revived and expanded as the ECO. A number of projects are
underway with the collaboration of both countries.
(iv) After anti-Reza Shah Pehlavi revolution in Iran, Pakistan was the first
country to recognize the new revolutionary government. A joint economic
commission, instituted by both countries, works for the expansion of trade
and economic cooperation.
(v) Pakistan’s role as a peace maker, during Iran-Iraq war was commendable
