Explain the process of photosynthesis.

Photosynthesis is the process by which green plants, algae, and some bacteria convert light energy into chemical energy in the form of glucose. The process takes place in the chloroplasts of plant cells and involves the absorption of light by chlorophyll. During photosynthesis, carbon dioxide (CO₂) from the air and water (H₂O) from the soil are used, and with the help of light energy, glucose (C₆H₁₂O₆) and oxygen (O₂) are produced. The overall chemical equation for photosynthesis is:
6CO₂ + 6H₂O + light energy → C₆H₁₂O₆ + 6O₂.
