Q30. Explain the importance of dry ports in Pakistan

Ans: Dry Ports in Pakistan:
Dry ports are also called inland ports. They are localities set up at a distance
from seashore, meant for the storage of goods. Dry ports store, imports and
export goods, these are connected with other parts of the country through
rail and road links. Imported goods are first stored at dry ports and then
dispatched to different destinations. Export commodities are in the same
manner stored and sometimes processed and graded in the dry ports. These
ports provide facilities for the maintenance of the carriage vehicles and
custom clearance. Dry ports help relieve the burden of the seaports and
facilitate importers and exporters.
