Q28. Explain the economic value, and reserves of Oil Refineries in Pakistan.

Ans: Oil Refineries:
Fossil oil is not used in crude form, it has to be refined and purified before
consumption. After refining it turns into fuel for diesel, furnace oil, motor
vehicles and aeroplanes. Oil refineries are usually set up in the vicinity of oil
fields. Pakistan has three big oil refineries. Attock Oil Refinery is the oldest
one located at Morga near Rawalpindi. Ten percent of the total oil refined in
the country comes from Attock Oil Refinery. Experts believe that there are
enormous oil reserves near our coastline. Drilling to search oil in the sea
near Karachi started in 1985, but no success has so far been achieved.
