Ans: The Fourth Period of Economic Development:
(1970-1980)
The separation of East Pakistan from West Pakistan was a great tragedy.
When in 1971 Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto took over power, Pakistan was surrounded
by problems. In the first 7 years of this decade, economic development was
disappointing. The currency devalued and the American dollar went up from
4.76 rupees to 11 rupees. The nationalization of oil factories, commercial
banks, aeroplane companies, flour mills, and cotton ginning and rice
threshing factories affected the economy negatively. During the rule of
General Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq, the country moved towards economic
development. The 1978 Economic Reforms Ordinance was issued. The
industrial until related to agriculture were returned to their former owners. Due to this the production of agricultural raw material increased export government could not contral inflation Rs750 crore were allocated for the
fourth 5 years plan (1970-75) The targets were not stanice in
national income, agricultural paid as reass in a capela cims to to
