Ans: Pak-Turkey Relations:
South Asian Muslims have a long history of brotherly relations with the
Turkish people. Muslims of this area started a movement to safeguard
movement is known as the Khilafat Movement. A treaty of friendship known

as Ankara Agreement was signed by the two countries in 1951. Both
countries became part of the Baghdad Pact formed in 1955, which later
turned into Central Treaty Organization: CENTO. Turkey helped Pakistan in
the Indo-Pakistan wars of 1965 and 1971. Both countries became part of the
Regional Co-operation for Development; RCD, formed in 1964, this further
strengthened the ties of friendship between the two countries. Both countries
now share common ties as members of the ECO and the OIC. Pakistan and
Turkey have identical point of view and take common stand regarding most
of the issues of the Muslim world like Kashmir, Palestine and Afghanistan etc.
